2009 Big Break Winner Making It Big

Congratulations to our very own Jayson Brooks, winner of the 2009 Bar1's Big Break - he and his band JC & the Uptown Sound were just featured in a published article in this week's Red Eye! They won the Rock n' Vote contest put on by Metromix in 2008 and continue to take strides towards hitting the big time including their recent debut with Bloodshot Records. Keep up the great work, Jayson! Who of our Big Break alumni will be next to have their name up in lights?

Big Break Update - August 9th

Week after week, Duffy's has transformed from a Lincoln Park sports bar into Chicago's biggest stage!  Some of the Midwest's best talent has come out to participate in the 7th annual Bar1's Big Break competition. Nearly 500 singers registered and the pool is down to just the remaining 8 singers vying for $20,000 and a record production deal with JP Records.

This week, the singers were asked to perform a song selected for them by the judges. It took them out of their comfort zones but each contestant stepped up their game. Next week will be an even bigger challenge as they are paired with another contestant to perform duets...you don't want to miss this!

Big Break Update from Round 3

The Top 74 singers gave it their all on Monday night during the very last a capella audition round of Bar1's Big Break. Congratulations to all the singers for such outstanding performances - it was a fierce battle! The judges had the difficult task of narrowing the field down to just 30 singers who will compete for audience votes during Round 4 on Monday, July 18. Your Big Break Update

The 7th annual Bar1's Big Break Singing Competition kicked off on Monday, June 13 and just wrapped up the first round of auditions. The contestants were given a score out of 30 by our panel of judges based on their singing ability, stage presence and style. We had nearly 500 singers register for the competition and invited 120 back to perform in the second round. Follow us on Facebook and don't miss your chance to catch the competition from the very beginning - round two will take place next Monday, June 27th and Tuesday, June 28th at 7:00pm!
